Here’s the weekly radio review of chart action on mainstream radio. These reviews are based on my work for Mediabase and I post them every Monday morning. Check it out.
On Rhythmic radio: New to the Top 30, Miley Cirus “We Can’t Stop.” New to the Top 20, Zedd f/ Foxes “Clarity.” J. Cole f/ TLC “Crooked Smile” reaches the Top 10. Headed for the Top 30 are Nelly f/ Nicki Minaj & Pharrell “Get Like Me” (#32) and Mario f/ Nicki Minaj “Somebody Else” (#33).
On Urban Adult Contemporary: After a wild week of social media attention to Ginuwine’s energy-drink induced performance, TGT “I Need” single climbs into the #23 position on the charts. Despite 22 weeks on Urban AC, Boney James f/ Raheem Devaughn “Maker Of Love” can’t seem to move above the #19 slot.
On Urban radio: Nine weeks on the chart and Hustle Gang f/ T.I., B.O.B. & Kendrick Lamar “Memories Back Then” can’t push into the Top 20. The same with K. Michelle “V.S.O.P.” (seven weeks on the chart). Jay-Z f/ Justin Timberlake “Holy Grail” breaks into the Top 20 at #18 and is gaining.
Top 3 on Rhythmic radio: Ariana Grande “The Way,” Daft Punk “Get Lucky,” and Robin Thicke f/ Pharrell & T.I. “Blurred Lines.”
Top 3 on Urban AC radio: Chrisette Michele “A Couple Of Forevers,” Jaheim “Age Ain’t A Factor,” and Alicia Keys f/ Maxwell “Fire We Make.”
Top 3 on Urban radio: Robin Thicke f/ Pharrell & T.I. “Blurred Lines,” Lil Wayne f/ 2 Chainz “Rich As F**k,” J. Cole f/ Miguel “Power Trip.”
