Here’s the weekly radio review. To my new followers, on Mondays I post a small synopsis of what’s happening on mainstream radio (based on my work for Mediabase). Check it out:
On Rhythmic radio: Avicii “Wake Me Up” jumps into the Top 25. Katy Perry “Roar” made a big jump from #20 to #13. Eminem “Berzerk” three weeks on the chart is at #11.
On Urban Adult Contemporary: Fresh into the Top 30 is Marsha Ambrosius f/ Neyo “Without You” and The Robert Glasper Experiment f/ Jill Scott “Calls.” Still in the Top 10, and a great example of corporate radio completely destroying the beauty of a song with over-programming, Miguel “Adorn” has been on Urban AC charts 59 weeks (that’s over a year in major rotation).
On Urban radio: Schoolboy Q f/ Kendrick Lamar “Collard Greens” broke into the Top 30. Nelly f/ Nicki Minaj & Pharrell “Get Like Me” is chilling at #21, whereas I thought it would be in the Top 15 after seven weeks of rotation.
Top 3 on Rhythmic radio: J. Cole f/ TLC “Crooked Smile,” Drake f/ Majid Jordan “Hold On, We’re Going Home,” and number one is Jay Z f/ Justin Timberlake “Holy Grail.”
Top 3 on Urban AC radio: Alicia Keys f/ Maxwell “Fire We Make,” Jaheim “Age Ain’t A Factor,” and number one is Robin Thicke f/ Pharrell & T.I. “Blurred Lines.”
